Mastercard NetsUnion was established in March 2019, and received formal approval from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) to commence domestic bankcard clearing activity in China on November 17, 2023.
Mastercard NetsUnion officially commenced operations in May 9, 2024.
Mastercard-branded cards, introduced by Mastercard NetsUnion and issuing banks in China, can be used at more than 130 million merchant locations worldwide. Mastercard NetsUnion is actively contributing to the high-quality development of China's payments ecosystem, offering safe, convenient, digital-first payment experiences to Chinese consumers and businesses.
